Virat's knock was a crucial contribution to the team's first innings score of 410/5. Team India was able to win the match by 160 runs and achieved its ninth successive CWC 2023 win.

Virat Kohli equals yet another Sachin Tendulkar's record in the 2023 ODI World Cup

Adding more to his tally, Virat equalled Indian legend Sachin Tendulkar's record of the most half-centuries during a single edition of an ODI World Cup. Sachin hit a total of seven fifties in the 2003 ODI World Cup which has now been equalled by Kohli. Bangladesh captain Shakib Al Hasan is the other name on the list and he also slammed seven fifties during the 2019 ODI World Cup. Kohli will now have the chance to surpass Tendulkar as he will be playing against New Zealand in the first semi-final of the 2023 ODI World Cup.
