Virat Kohli has been a stellar player for the Indian cricket team, notably leading them to victory against South Africa in the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 final. Despite a lackluster tournament overall, Kohli's standout performance in the final was crucial. Returning from Barbados on July 4, 2024, Kohli's retirement from T20 Internationals raises the question of what lies ahead for him. With an illustrious career behind him, the future holds intriguing possibilities for the esteemed cricketer post-T20I retirement.
Virat Kohli was seen travelling to London after celebrating T20 World Cup with India
Star batter Virat Kohli was spotted leaving for London on Thursday after the lavish festivities in Mumbai honouring India's triumph in the T20 World Cup 2024. Following the celebrations, the 35-year-old left for London to reunite with his family, and he was seen at the airport.
With the victory in the T20 World Cup, Team India ended their 11-year ICC trophy drought, thanks in large part to Kohli. Despite having struggled in earlier games, he scored 76 off 59 balls in the Barbados final against South Africa, putting on an outstanding display. His performances enabled India to achieve a dramatic seven-run victory by setting a target of 176 in 20 overs.
Due to a hurricane, Rohit Sharma and his team's stay in Barbados was unplannedly prolonged, making the last 24 hours very interesting. On Thursday morning, they eventually touched down in Delhi, where they met Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi before flying on to Mumbai for a historical bus parade.
It is also important to note that both Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli declared their retirement from Twenty20 international cricket after leading India to glory in the ICC T20 World Cup. With Rohit scoring 4,231 runs and Virat Kohli recording 4,188 runs, they conclude the format as its top two scorers. Both both these legends retiring, India will now send its young generation in the T20Is as the Indian cricket team will now be seen in action against Zimbabwe. Team India will be led by Shubman Gill in this series.
