World Test Championship 2025: The English Test Summer has kicked off and so has the crucial stage of WTC 2025. Ben Stokes-led England are locking horns with West Indies in a three-match Test series. The first match was played at Lord's and it majorly revolved around English stalwart James Anderson's Test retirement. The legendary English pacer whose career lasted for nearly 23 years has now made is final appearance for the 'Three Lions'. England thrashed West Indies by an innings and 114 runs in the opening match of the series.

Updated Points Table After The First ENG vs WI Test Match

Too good and too ruthless for West Indies, the English team led by all-rounder Ben Stokes wrapped up the first match of the series on the third day itself. It was debutant Gus Atkinson who bowled his heart out and picked up 12 wickets to put England in a commanding position. The Englishmen were always very confident of their skills and decided to bowl in the first match of the series after winning the toss.

In James Anderson's final match, England took a huge lead by 250 runs in the first innings. Two crucial fifties from Joe Root and Jamie Smith helped England's cause as they had West Indies on the backfoot pretty early on the series. Atkinson picked up a stellar fifer and helped England wrap the match early.
