'You can't have a Bumrah breaking down 10 days before World Cup': New BCCI President Roger Binny
Jasprit Bumrah was ruled out of the T20 World Cup with a back injury three days before the Indian team was to fly out for Australia. With Mohammad Shami battling COVID-19 at the same time, the BCCI waited till the 11th hour for him to get fully fit before being named as Bumrah's replacement.

Newly elected BCCI president Roger Binny on Thursday reiterated that re was a pressing need to dress players getting injured frequently, saying "you can't have a Jasprit Bumrah breaking down 10 days before World Cup".
Bumrah was ruled out of T20 World Cup with a back injury three days before Indian team was to fly out for Australia. With Mohamm Shami battling COVID-19 at same time, BCCI waited till 11th hour for him to get fully fit before being named as Bumrah's replacement. Binny h also touched upon this topic after taking charge as BCCI chief on Tuesday. "We need to dress why and how are players are getting injured so bly. We need to dress why y are breaking down so easily. t just w but also in last four-five years," Binny said at a felicitation ceremony organised by Karnataka State Cricket Association here.

"It is t that we don't have good trainers or coaches. Wher lo is too much, or wher y are playing too many formats, something needs to be done. That is my priority.
"You can't have a Bumrah breaking down 10 days before World Cup and n who is going to replace him. It is important (to dress it)," said 67-year-old.

Central contracts for domestic players t needed, better pitches are
Binny stressed on importance of preparing better wickets in domestic cricket besides listing standard of Ranji Trophy.
" pitches are still too docile, y are unfit for fast bowlers. We also need to look at infrastructure. 30-40 thousand fans come to stiums (for India games), y need to be comfortable." On need for central contracts for domestic cricketers on lines of India cricketers, he said: " domestic players are looked after very well. y have got good facilities and y stay in good places. I don't think re is any need for that at moment (contracts).

"What is needed is to lift standard of Ranji trophy, it is premier tournament of country. re was Irani Cup going on t so long ago how many people knew? We need to change that," he said. On upcoming Women's IPL in March, he ded: "Surprisingly, t as popular as men's cricket but women's cricket is going to get very popular. game has taken giant strides in last two-three years.
