Yuvraj Singh urges for unity in this day of solidarity; reveals pledge for PM CARES fund

Ahead of PM Modi's '9 pm-9 minutes' appeal, former cricketer Yuvraj Singh appealed everyone to participate in order to show solidarity in battle against coronavirus. This comes at backdrop of appeal by PM Modi to switch off lights at 9 pm on April 5 and light a lamp, candle or flashlights for 9 minutes to showcase unity in fight against vel coronavirus.
Taking to Twitter, Yuvraj also stated that on this day of solidarity, he will be pledging Rs. 50 lakhs to PM CARES fund.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched Prime Minister’s Citizen Assistance and Relief in Emergency Situations Fund (PM CARES Fund), wherein citizens can contribute to aid government efforts in supporting those affected by disasters. This fund will provide relief to affected from any walk of life dealing with any kind of emergency or distress situation. PM Modi also urged Indians to donate generously.

Earlier, Indian cricketer Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma also urged countrymen to unite on occasion to show solidarity with COVID warriors of nation.

Taking to Twitter, Virat Kohli asked Indians to come toger to show world that country stands as one behind COVID-19 warriors. Indian skipper drew a comparison between game and country and said that while power of stadium was fans, spirit of country was in its people.
Furrmore, Hitman called battle against COVID as a must-win Test and warned that y could t get it wrong. Rohit Sharma urged people to 'light to fight' by following PM Modi's appeal.

PM Modi's appeal
Prime Minister Narendra Modi in his address to nation on Friday asked citizens for 9 minutes for ir time on Sunday, April 5 and requested m to light a candle, diya, torch or mobile flashlight to mark India's fight against Coronavirus. PM Modi in his third COVID-19 speech said, "On Sunday, April 5, we must challenge Coronavirus & introduce it to power of light; 1.3 billion people must show ir united power, at 9 pm for 9 minutes, by turning off all lights at home, standing at balconies, & lighting diyas, candles, flashlights". In his appeal, PM Modi reiterated people to maintain social distancing and keep off from streets.
