NFL Trade Rumours: Dallas Cowboys set to sign former Super Bowl MVP Malcolm Smith

The Dallas Cowboys have been short of depth after some major injuries. Jason Garrett's side have now addressed those injuries by signing Malcolm Smith.

Former Super Bowl MVP Malcolm Smith has been in Free ncy since vember. Reports have w indicated that Dallas Cowboys are close to signing former Jacksonville Jaguars linebacker. Malcolm Smith recently h a meeting with Dallas Cowboys and NFC East leers are said to have finalised a move for  Super Bowl XLVIII champion.

NFL Tre Rumours: Dallas Cowboys move for Malcolm Smith to dress injury woes

Rookie linebacker Luke Gifford picked up an injury during win against LA Rams which has effectively ended his season. Joe Thomas also suffered a knee injury in that game while likes of Sean Lee and Leighton Vander Esch have also been missing through injury. If Dallas Cowboys wrap up signing of Malcolm Smith, Cowboys will finally have some much-needed depth at linebacker position.

After spending e 2018 season with San Francisco 49ers, Malcolm Smith played two games for Jacksonville Jaguars this season. While former Super Bowl MVP will be moving to pastures anew, re will be one familiar face for Malcolm Smith in Dallas setup. Dallas Cowboys passing game coordinator/defensive backs coach Kris Richard was part of Seattle Seahawks’ staff when y won Super Bowl in 2014.

extent of Leighton Vander Esch's neck injury was t thought to be grave at first. However, Malcolm Smith's signing could mean that Dallas Cowboys may be preparing for a lengthy period without Vander Esch. Malcolm Smith spent two years with Oakland Raiders before moving to Seattle Seahawks and winning Super Bowl. During his time with Raiders, he posted a career-best 123 combined tackles.
