Dipika Pallikal slams SRFI, says 'Indian Squash need full-time coach'
Indian Squash player Deepika Pallikal has slammed the Squash Rackets Federation of India (SRFI) for failing to appoint a full-time coach for the Indian players

Indian Squash player Dipika Pallikal slammed SRFI (Squash Rackets Federation of India) for failing to appoint a coach for Indian players since April 2018. Squash star also said that state of Indian Squash is disheartening. Indian Squash players have been training without a coach since April 2018 after Egyptian Achraf Karargui left in 2018.

'Need proper structured programs, scheduling'
“If you want to try and take Squash forward in country, first rule is to have a Coach. It’s just bizarre to he to Commonwealth Games and Asian Games without a Coach. It’s just disheartening to see what is happening to Indian squash.” she said. player also said that Squash Federation of India (SRFI) needs to have a structure in place for Indians to become a formidable force at world level. “re has to be a proper structured programs, scheduling, etc in place. A lot of planning has to be done to try and become world champion. It’s t best scenario in country right w without a coach.” she said.

Proper training to juniors
athlete furr stated that players like her and Joshna Chinappa, and Saurav Ghosal escape need of a Coach by basing mselves abro. Juniors don’t have liberty to do that and federation needs to provide proper training and guidance. sports star also slammed federation and said that one after her and Joshna is re to fill number 3,4 and 5 spots. She also said that if things continue like this, in 5-6 years, Indian Squash will t have any players.
“You need world-class coaches to guide your players. What is use of having tournaments without coaches? players need to become world-class and n go on playing tournaments” she ded.

SRFI decided t to hire a full-time coach
Earlier this year, SRFI decided to t hire a full-time Coach and inste opted for event-based for players. Dipika Pallikal h resisted decision. Stating importance of having a Coach, player said, “Personally I don’t think that will work. Because it’s like saying I’m going to be with someone else and when I have a tournament, someone else is going to coach me. That person may have thing to do with your game. connect won’t be re which is very important. player needs someone fulltime. I don’t how it will work out but personally, it won’t work for me.” player also alleged that federation doesn't consult players before taking important decisions. “y didn’t come to us to ask if we needed Achraf in CWG. In Asian Games, re was this huge drama over national coach and Saurav, Joshna and myself ended up coaching each or.” player ded.
