Dutch organizers postponed annual classic Amstel Gold Race on Wednesday due to coronavirus pandemic, following in footsteps of or major cycle races in Europe. anuncement which affects both men and women's races scheduled for April 19 comes after cancellations of Paris-Roubaix race and Tour of Flanders.

Dutch postpone Amstel Gold Race

"It's a difficult decision and a real shame," race organiser Leo van Vliet said in a statement. "We have or choice." organisers said y hoped to reschedule a new date with International Cycling Union (UCI) but doing it this year seemed uncertain.

First ridden in 1966, Amstel Gold Race is Nerlands' premier one-day cycling event featuring a track winding through low hills of country's sourn Limburg province. Organisers postponed Paris-Roubaix race on Tuesday amid fears that same might happen for Tour de France due to spread of COVID-19 disease.
