Gaming industry doesn't require regulation: PM Modi's BIG PROMISE to Gamers

In a free-wheeling interaction with top Indian online gamers on a host of issues about future as well as challenges before e-gaming industry, prime minister posed questions to gamers while trying his hands at some of games.

When a gamer Naman Mathur asked Modi if re was any need for regulations for gaming sector, he said regulate wouldn't be right word because it is government's nature to intervene.
"re are two things -- eir you try to impose restrictions under a law or try to understand and mould it based on our country's needs and bring it under an organised and legal structure and uplift its reputation," prime minister said.

"My attempt is to uplift nation to a level that by 2047 government is out of lives of middle-class families in particular. Our life is stuck in paperwork. It is poor who need government, government should be re with m in difficult times," he ded.
Anor gamer Animesh Agarwal said government should recognise esports and gaming as a mainstream sport.

"It is a skill-based gaming and does not involve gambling. Once it is established and understood by all government bodies, including those involved in financial transactions, it will be really beneficial. As you said, industry does not need a regulation. We should let it grow freely. With a little push, industry will be rey," he told prime minister.
To this, Modi replied, "It (esports and gaming) does not require any regulation. It must remain free, only n it will boom." prime minister sought to know from gamers about how y deal with conflict between gaming and gambling. gamers also discussed with prime minister certain terminologies used in industry such as "noob" and "grind".

As gamers explained to prime minister that "noob" is a reference to someone who is a newbie or not very skilled at a game, Modi chuckled, "If I use this word during elections, people will wonder who am I referring to. If I say it, you will assume it for a particular person." Tirth Mehta, a gamer from Gujarat's Kutch, said, "People feel that we play games to pass time. We play games that are really different from ors, but people think y are as easy as ludo... We play games that are as complex as chess and demand mental and physical skills".
During interaction, Modi said, "People have offered different solutions. I have an alternative solution called Mission LIFE which vocates for changing our daily lifestyle to benefit environment." "Now, envision a game aimed at dressing global climate issues where gamer must explore various methods and solutions to identify most sustainable approach. What are se steps? How do we navigate through it and choose best approach for success? "Take swachhata as an example. game me could revolve around cleanliness and every child should play this game. Youngsters should embrace Indian values and understand ir true significance," prime minister said.
