League of Legends Worlds 2020 could have limited fans in arena for Grand Finale

League of Legends Worlds 2020 could possibly host the finals next month with fans in the arena. Riot will monitor the safety protocols before taking a call.

Riot Games are still planning to host Grand Finale of League of Legends World Championship with limited number of fans in arena. Also kwn as Worlds 2020, final of global event will take place on October 31 at at Pudong Football Stadium in Shanghai, China.

John Needham, Riot Games' global head of esports, told reporters on Monday that organisers are still contemplating if fans can be allowed in arena. Needham, however, added that y still have a lot of work to do to ensure safety of everyone amid COVID-19 pandemic.

With finals still over a month away, Needham said hosts will monitor health and safety regulations at event for next few weeks before making a call on wher fans will be allowed for finale. "I think we’re going to be fine, and we’ll have a small audience in stadium, but we’ll see. It’s gotta be safe," Needham said, as quoted by Reuters.

10th edition of League of Legends Worlds will commence on September 25 with 10 teams competing in Play-In St to earn a place in Group St. Out 10, only four will quality for main tournament, which will be played between October 3 and 31. Except finals, rest of matches will be hosted from  Shanghai Media Tech Studio. 

22 teams will be competing for huge prize pool (Riot is yet to release prize pool details) along with an opportunity to get ir hands of coveted Summoner's Cup.

Meanwhile, Riot Games also anunced its strategic partnership with luxury car manufacturer Mercedes-Benz. During Monday's preview event for LoL Worlds 2020, German company, which has been associated with LoL since 2018, was unveiled as official exclusive automotive partner for League of Legends Esports Global Events - World Championship, Mid-Season Invitational (MSI), and All-Star Events. Mercedes-Benz will kick-off this new partnership as  first-ever presenting partner of trophy ceremony at Worlds 2020 Final.
