F1 | FIA summons Ferrari F1 team to discuss Vettel’s penalty review

Ferrari has been summoned by the FIA to a hearing on Friday, for an inquiry into the Formula 1 team's request to review Sebastian Vettel's controversial penalty in the Canadian Grand Prix.

Friday will see start of race weekend of French Grand Prix at Circuit Paul Ricard. After dramatic Canadian GP, where a 5-second penalty to German driver Sebastian Vettel for joining track unsafely cost him a win. Lewis Hamilton from Mercedes who on Vettel's tail throughout won GP in spite of finishing second at chequered flag. Ferrari has been summoned by FIA to a hearing on Friday, for an inquiry into Formula 1 team's request to review Sebastian Vettel's controversial penalty.
 
Vettel was penalized and given two points on his license, after being judged to have rejoined track unsafely and forced ar car off-track while leading race.

penalty was t received well by F1 fans and y took to internet and coined term ‘MaFIA’ to address Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile, governing body for F1. Even Vettel was furious and adamant that he deserved win, he did t take his car for race end inspection and stomped towards FIA office after race, on his team’s orders, Vettel did show up at podium but he looked displeased. Before joining Hamilton (first) and his teammate Charles Leclerc (third) at podium, Vettel switched sign that indicated rank 1 from in front of Hamilton’s car to rank 2 sign.

“I'm t happy with decision stewards took. I think you can understand. It feels a bit weird, t having won race even though you crossed line first. And as I said, I don’t think I have done anything wrong; I don’t feel I could have done anything differently. I don’t kw, actually, what problem was. So… yeah. t much more to say, I think, from my point of view. I think all people out re, y probably agree with me.” said Vettel

FIA International Sporting Code gives teams an option of a post-event review of decisions if new evidence that was t available during race comes forward. Under Article 14.1.1 of code, FIA can reconvene stewards or replacements to look again at case.
 
Ferrari lodged its request for an official review, and on Thursday ahead of French Grand Prix, a tice from FIA and stewards called Ferrari representatives to hearing.
