Pressure mounted further for Arsenal head coach Unai Emery after yet another frustrating night of football when they were held by Portuguese side Vitoria S.C to 1-1 draw the Europa League group stage-match. The north London club's goal cam via defender Shkrodan Mustafi but an injury-time goal allowed the home side to snatch the three points.

Another disappointing match

It was a very frustrating afternoon for the Arsenal team, who failed to make use of the chances that they had, and went on to concede 16 attempts on their goal. The embarrassing defending record worsens further and Emery has not been able to make any significant improvement to the Arsenal side on the opposite end. The team is constantly conceding more and more shots every match and has not been able to respond and score goals on the opposite end. In the last four consecutive matches, Arsenal have had a lead and have ended up letting go of the lead, eventually sharing the points. There is a lack of decisiveness, proper clarity and game plan in the Spaniard's approach.

Emery was asked about the poor performance and lack of creativity. He said, "I think we worked hard and fought against a team who were very strong defensively, and very organised. They played against us with 100 per cent motivation and also with their supporters. A little disappointed for the result because we wanted to win, but we are first in the group and we want to make sure of that position in the next matches."  He was also asked about having a grand total of one shot on target in the match and he said, "They are very defensive with a big defensive structure. It is not easy because they were defending very deep and together, and to find and create small spaces was not easy against this team. We want to improve and also to continue in our way, how we can prepare the next match to be strong defensively and also create chances, and get that balance to win the next matches."

Goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez was also asked about the performance of the team and he said, "it was quite difficult, especially in the first half. The pitch wasn't great and we couldn't find many good occasions to score. They had some good shots in the first half but we handled it quite well and defended well too. We moved the ball quicker in the second half and we were unlucky to concede in the end."
