Arsenal: Aubameyang, Leno and other players on international duty

Arsenal's fine start to the Premier League has seen seven players being called up to the international squads for the upcoming qualifiers and friendlies

Arsenal have started on a mixed note in the Premier League this season, and are currently sitting 3rd with only one defeat so far. Seven players have received call ups for international duty for the upcoming Euro 2020 qualifiers and friendlies.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has been called up by Gabon for friendlies against Burkina Faso (Oct 11) and Morocco (Oct 16)

Bernd Leno has been called by Germany for a friendly against Argentina (Oct 11) and a Euro 2020 qualifier against Estonia (Oct 15). With Ter Stegen and Neuer already in the squad, a start for Leno should be hard to come, though he’d be looking to impress Low.

 Arsenal’s second-choice goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez has also been called up by Argentina for their friendlies against Germany and Ecuador.

On-loan midfielder, Dani Ceballos has been called by Spain for their upcoming qualifiers against Norway (Oct 13) and Sweden (Oct 16). Winning both the fixtures should confirm Spain's qualification to the Euro 2020.

New signing Nicolas Pepe has been called up by Ivory Coast for friendlies against DR Congo (Oct 14) and Niger (Oct 19)\

Lucas Torreira is another Arsenal player called up to the international set-up for Uruguay for a friendly double against Peru (Oct 12 & 16)

Sead Kolasinac has been called up by Bosnia and Herzegovina for their fixtures against Finland (Oct 13) and Greece (Oct 17). Bosnia currently lies 4th in their group with 7 points, 5 behind 2nd placed Finland and would need to cut this gap down to have a realistic chance of qualifying for the tournament.

At various other age groups, Joe Willock (England U21) and Mateo Guendouzi (France U21) have received call ups having been part of Arsenals’s first team set up.

Club captain Granit Xhaka has been called up by Switzerland, though he is yet to join up with the squad after his wife gave birth to their daughter. Keiran Tierney misses out to injury and other notable omissions have been omissions in the form of Shkodran Mustafi, Mesut Ozil, David Luiz, Sokratis, Callum Chambers and Lacazette (injury).
