Arsene Wenger out of the race to become Bayern Munich manager: Report

According to reports, Bayern Munich have denied Arsene Wenger an opportunity to coach the Bavarians. The manager was keen on coaching the Bundesliga champions.

According to German media reports, former Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is no longer in the race for the managerial post at Bayern Munich. It had been frequently reported in the last few days that the French tactician was keen to end his exile and return to football at the helm of the Bundesliga champions.

Wenger speaks to Rummenigge

Wenger had expressed his desire of managing the Bavarians according to British media reports. However, he called up Bayern chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge and basically signalled an interest in coaching the club. However, Bayern appreciate Wenger very much for his previous work as Arsenal's manager, but they are not considering him as an option.

The club had sacked their manager Niko Kovac a few days back and are searching for his full-time replacement. Kovac was sacked following the club’s 1-5 loss against Eintracht Frankfurt. Overall, the team has failed to replicate their previous season's performance this time. Hansi Flick has been named as the club's interim manager.

With the Bavarians sitting four points behind Borussia Monchengladbach in the Bundesliga, the legendary manager's name was being increasingly thought of by Bayern as they consider their options. According to German media reports, former RB Leipzig manager Ralf Rangnick is also being considered for the job.

Arsene Wenger spent 12 years at Arsenal. During his time at the Emirates, he won three Premier League titles and seven FA Cup trophies. The club qualified for the UEFA Champions League for 20 years in a row under his tenure.  He has been away from management since leaving the North London club at the end of the 2017/18 season but has also reportedly expressed his desire to return back to management.
