Asian Games: Sunil Chhetri wins match for India in dying moments vs Bangladesh - WATCH

The Indian Football Team secured their first victory in the Asian Games as they defeated Bangladesh 1-0 in a group stage match. Following their 5-1 drubbing at the hand of China, this was a must-win tie for the Blue Tigers. Skipper Sunil Chhetri converts from the spot as India scrapped a slender win over their neighbour.

It looked like it was going to be another disappointing evening for the Indian team but it was the 39-year-old Indian legend who stepped up to rescue his team once again. Bryce Miranda received a long ball and in a last ditch attempt to defend Bangladesh captain Rahmat fouls him inside the box and the referee didn't think a bit before pointing to the spot.

The Bengaluru FC forward came forward and slotted it past the Bangladesh goalkeeper to provide his country with a valuable lead. This proved to be the winner as India still stand a chance to qualify for the next round. 

Sunil Chhetri was pretty elated after the game. "It was frustrating. I think a lot of things we could've done well. At the end of the day getting all three points is essential. Let's not talk about preparations, you don't want to get me into trouble. Whatever we talk about preparations, it's not going to help so chuck it. It wasn't easy, it was very competitive."

The Indian football Team will face Myanmar next in a Group Stage match, and it will be the perfect chance to elevate themselves in the prestigious Asian Games.
