Barcelona board HAMMER VAR for negative impact on their results and favouring Real Madrid
LaLiga giants Barcelona have bashed the use of the latest technology, VAR, following controversy during their 3-1 defeat against Real Madrid on Saturday.

On Monday, LaLiga giants Barcelona released a statement bashing use of VAR (Video Assistant Referee) for ir 3-1 El Clasico defeat against Real Mrid over weekend. Catalan outfit were left fuming after a penalty was awarded for a shirt pull by Clement Lenglet on Sergio Ramos in second half of game. In ir statement, Barcelona board claimed that VAR is having a negative impact on club's results which has led to ir closest rivals benefitting from new techlogy.

El Clasico 2020: Barcelona vs Real Mrid controversy
El Clasico fixture at Camp u on Saturday proved to be quite a spectacle for neutrals but Barcelona were angered by a VAR incident that played a crucial role in outcome of game. Fede Valverde opened scoring for Real Mrid just five minutes into game before Ansu Fati equalised for hosts three minutes later. However, controversial moment in game came just after hour mark when Sergio Ramos h his shirt pulled by Clement Lenglet in Barcelona penalty box.

According to reports from Sport, Barcelona are still furious over incident being deemed a penalty because referee Martinez Munuera’s assistant vised it was t a foul as “Sergio Ramos h fouled Clement Lenglet first”. However, referee did t pay any attention to VAR and pointed to spot. Sergio Ramos n converted from resultant spot-kick to make it 2-1 and Luka Modric came off bench to seal win late in game.

Barcelona VAR issue: Club's board blasts use of new techlogy
In a statement released on Monday, Barcelona board, including president Josep Maria Bartomeu, slammed use of VAR following Real Mrid's controversial El Clasico win. Blaugrana board expressed ir confidence in use of VAR but stated ir strong disagreement in its application. " Board considers that, in cases of identical or very similar game situations, VAR has t upheld essential criteria of ethics and fairness, which has h a serious negative impact on FC Barcelona and has benefitted its most direct opponents."
Barcelona were quite clearly unhappy with use of VAR in El Clasico and urged Spanish Football Federation to take immediate action and unify criteria of interpretation and application of techlogy. Following defeat in El Clasico, Barcelona are w in 12th place in LaLiga table with seven points from five games. On or hand, Real Mrid are w in second place with 13 points from six games.
