Barcelona senior official resigns after calling Rafael Nadal 'enemy of the state'
Rafael Nadal, who won his 21st Grand Slam title at the Australian Open hails from Mallorca but is a huge fan of Barcelona biggest rival Real Madrid.

Rafael Nal is known to be a huge Real Mrid fan and h once stated his desire to become president of club. However, a Barcelona official has taken a shot at newly crowned Australian Open Champion calling him an "enemy of state". result of that jibe on Spanish Tennis star has resulted in official losing his job.
Barcelona official loses job after commenting on Rafael Nal
Alfons Godall, who is a vice-president of Barca Foundation and an open supporter of Catalan independence in his tweet wrote, "Rafael Navid has me me uncomfortable from day one. I have him in same group as La Roja ( nickname for Spanish national team), Real Mrid, (Fernando) Alonso and everything that represents enemy state." Godall referred to Nal as "Rafael Navid", translating Nal, which means Christmas in Catalan, into Spanish form of word.

Following resignation, Godall in his tweet wrote, @ tweet with my opinion about a famous person and his profile can hurt Barca Foundation due to pressure from some companies and media. I don’t want to cost a penny FC Barcelona a penny or give up my freedom of expression. Consequently, I resign from position. Thank you!!"
Rafael Nal hungry for more Grand Slam Titles
Despite winning 21st grand Slam tournament recently following victory at Australian Open, Rafael Nal has insisted his record is "not enough". Nal came from two sets and a breakdown to beat 2021 US Open champion Daniil Medvedev. 35-year-old Spaniard now has one more major title than Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic, his long-time rivals in so-called Big Three.

With 2-6, 6-7 (5), 6-4, 6-4, 7-5 win against Medvedev, Nal has also become just fourth man in history to win all four of sport’s major titles at least twice. Rafael Nal vs Medvedev match on Sunday was second-longest Grand Slam final in history Nal will be a favourite to make it 22 at upcoming French Open where he has won 13 titles.
