Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp praised James Milner and Harvey Elliot after their comfortable 0-2 win against MK Dons in the third round of Carabao Cup. After the Carabao Cup game, Klopp while speaking to British media, praised 33-year-old James Milner. Milner made his third start of the season against MK Dons in the Carabao Cup. He scored the opening goal for the Reds in the 41st minute. Meanwhile, in the 69th minute, youngster Ki-Jana Hoever scored the second goal.

James Milner was deployed at left-back for Liverpool, completing 114 passes and creating a few chances for his team against MK Dons. Not being able to break into Klopp’s starting 11, Milner makes most of every chance he gets. Addressing the press after the match, Klopp termed Milner as a role model for the young players and the result would be in Liverpool's favour if Milner is involved.
Carabao Cup: Young mix for Liverpool against MK Dons
The Reds started the match with an attacking line-up of teenagers Rhian Brewster, Curtis Jones and Harvey Elliot. Progressing in the Carabao Cup was crucial for the Reds, Klopp regards the competition as a right place to test the young talent in the team. He added that his team would play to win every game in the Carabao Cup. He said that he is happy that his team advanced to the next round. Liverpool will host Arsenal in the next round of the Carabao Cup.
According to the German manager, young players will get a chance in the Carabao Cup. Talking to the British media after his scintillating performance, James Milner said that he was happy to see a mix of young players on the field. He addressed the problems in the second half saying that the team lost possession of the ball. But he thinks it was a pretty reliable performance. Liverpool will next play Sheffield United in the Premier League on Saturday, September 28, 2019.
