The fourth round of the Carabao Cup will be a mouthwatering one, with Liverpool set to face Arsenal at Anfield on October 30 (1:00 am IST). Chelsea also face off against Premier League rivals Manchester United just half an hour after the Liverpool vs Arsenal kickoff. Liverpool head into the fixture on the back of some strong performance, both in the Premier League as well as the Champions League. Arsenal, meanwhile, laboured to a 3-2 win over Olympiacos during their midweek Europa League fixture.
Unai Emery, meanwhile, has faced a tough time at the Emirates this season. Despite making a number of signings in the summer, Arsenal have blown hot and cold this season. New signing Nicolas Pepe has failed to set the Premier League alight so far. The Ivory Coast winger did, however, impress in Arsenal's victory over Olympiacos. Pepe scored two sublime freekicks to seal the victory for the Gunners. Arsenal have also faced defensive woes this season, with David Luiz mirroring Arsenal's fortunes in defence.
Liverpool, meanwhile, are on song this season. A minor blip in form and a spirited display from Manchester United may have halted their Premier League winning run, but the Reds sit comfortably on top of the Premier League table after nine games. In their previous meeting with the Gunners, Liverpool emerged victorious thanks to goals from Joel Matip and Mohamed Salah. Here's a look at a combined line-up of both the teams.
Liverpool vs Arsenal Combined XI
Alisson; Trent Alexander-Arnold, Joel Matip, Virgil van Dijk, Andrew Robertson; Dani Ceballos, Fabinho, Georginio Wijnaldum; Mohamed Salah, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Sadio Mane.
Seeing as how Liverpool prevailed over the Gunners in their previous meeting, it's only fitting that the line-up is Jurgen Klopp's preferred 4-3-3 formation. Only two Arsenal players make the cut, as Liverpool's players have put in industrious shifts in all the games so far. Dani Ceballos starts in midfield to provide some bite in the middle of the park along with Fabinho and Wijnaldum. Arsenal's top scorer Aubameyang starts up front, with Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah on the wings.
