The quarter-final fixtures of the Carabao Cup are out. Holders Manchester City will take on League One side Oxford City while Premier League leaders Liverpool will take on newly-promoted side Aston Villa. High-flying Leicester City will face strugglers Everton while Manchester United will face the 4th tier side Colchester United.

Carabao Cup: Quarter-finals fixtures announced!
Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City advanced to the quarter-finals after Argentinian striker Sergio Aguero scored twice to help them beat Southampton 3-1. Man City would hope they repeat their last season’s success this time as well when they face minnows Oxford United, who defeated Sunderland on penalties to advance to the quarters. Aston Villa defeated Wolves 2-1 to reach the Carabao Cup quarter-finals and will face Premier League leaders Liverpool, who defeated Arsenal on penalties after playing out a thriller that ended 5-5.

Carabao Cup draw: All smiles in Manchester
Marco Silva’s Everton have had little to cheer over the course of the season but would be happy with his team’s performance against Watford that helped them advance to the Carabao Cup quarter-final. Their opponents would be Brendan Rodgers’ Leicester City, who defeated Burton Albion 3-1. A Marcus Rashford stunner helped Manchester United beat Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Thursday, setting up a quarter-final clash with Colchester United, who’d like to extend their run in the competition after they defeated Crawley Town in the round of 16.

Carabao Cup Draw: EFL in talks with Klopp
The Carabao Cup quarter-finals are all set to be played on 17th December. The EFL have confirmed that they are in talks with Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp after he suggested that they could pull out of the competition due to fixture scheduling. Liverpool are set to travel to Qatar after the Carabao Cup quarter-finals for the FIFA Club World Cup.
