Two second-half goals by Robert Lewandowski and substitute Ivan Perisic secured a comfortable 2-0 victory for Bayern Munich at home to Olympiacos on Matchday 4 of the UEFA Champions League 2019-20 season. The win means Bayern are through to the next round of the Champions League with two games to spare.
Champions League: Bayern Munich vs Olympiacos match report
Playing their first game since coach Niko Kovac was sacked after the humiliating 5-1 loss against Eintracht Frankfurt, Bayern out-played the Greek champions the entire game. The home side did come close to taking the lead in the first half when Benjamin Pavard's close-range header hit the post. However, it had to be their leading goalscorer Robert Lewandowski to finally break the deadlock and put the Bavarians ahead. The Polish striker nodded home a cross from Kingsley Coman from close range in the 69th minute to score his 21st goal of the season in all competitions. Croatian winger Ivan Perisic then slammed the ball home with his first touch in less than 60 seconds after coming off the bench to seal the victory. The performance is surely what interim boss Hansi Flick expected and rightly got.
Bayern Munich top Group B with 12 points from four games which confirms their qualification to the round of 16 of the Champions League.
