Chennaiyin FC superfan Rajaraman's dream came true as he cheered for his home team in the stands at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Chennai on Sunday. ISL 2019-20: Chennaiyin FC vs Mumbai City FC report

With Diwali fireworks going off all around the country, both sides created a number of opportunities in the ISL game. The hosts started the game well, with Rafael Crivellaro fizzling a left-footed shot just wide on ten minutes. Two minutes later, Lallianzuala Chhangte was also guilty of missing an opportunity to put the hosts ahead as his shot was comfortably saved by Amrinder Singh. Singh, who ended last season with more saves than India's current No. 1 Gurpreet Singh Sandhu, affected a number of fine saves to keep the visitors in the contest in the first half.

The attackers from both sides had a tough time timing their runs in the final third, as there were a number of offside calls in the first 45 minutes. Mumbai City FC suffered a huge blow on 23 minutes. Their top scorer, Modou Sougou had to be replaced by Serge Kevyn, as the striker seemed to have had some trouble with his hamstring. Midfielder Serge Kevyn was brough in by Jorge Costa. Kevyn was granted an opportunity to make an instant impact as the midfielder was sent through on goal by Rowllin Borges. The substitute, however, blazed his effort embarrassingly wide. Poor finishing would be the story of the night, with new signing Armine Chermiti also guilty of missing a couple of chances. Here are the player ratings from the game.
