Cristiano Ronaldo is undoubtedly one of the all-time best to ever grace the game of football. The sheer number of records that the 34-year-old Portuguese holds are a testament to his greatness. As a result, it should come as no surprise that in today's age of social media, he is one of the most followed celebrities. Now, a recent report states that Cristiano Ronaldo has earned a whopping 47.8 million USD a year from sponsored Instagram posts alone.

Ronaldo and Social-media
The Juventus-star has always attracted interests and turned heads on and off the field. He is the sixth most followed person on Twitter with over 80 million followers. On Instagram however, Ronaldo is the celebrity with the highest number of followers having over 186 million followers. What is more surprising is that Ronaldo allegedly earns more from being an Instagram influencer than what he makes by scoring goals for Juventus. According to reports, the annual amount Ronaldo gets from Juventus; whom he signed for in 2018 is 34 million USD which is much lesser than what he makes through Instagram. The Juventus star has earned 47.8 million USD from 49 sponsored posts on Instagram receiving close to 1 million USD approximately for each of his posts. Ronaldo is way ahead of his arch-rival Lionel Messi, who is second on the list. Messi's Instagram earning is less than half of Ronaldo's at 23 million USD from 36 sponsored posts. Some of the brands that Ronaldo has represented on Instagram include Nike Football, Six Pad Europe, and Clear Haircare. Ronaldo's earnings from Instagram are different from typical influencer partnerships as many of his posts are part of a wider sponsorship deal with Nike.
On October 15, Cristiano Ronaldo hit yet another milestone by scoring his 700th career goal for club and country in Portugal's 2-1 loss to Ukraine in UEFA Euro 2020 qualifiers.
