The Indian Women's Football Team's outing against Pakistan at the SAFF Women's Football Championship was a night to remember for the fans as they secured a colossal win against the Pakistan Women's team. The Blue Tigress delivered a commanding performance as they outclassed its arch-rivals with a 5-2 lead. The five-time champions have opened their campaign with a banger and are striving to deliver more such efforts in the regional tournament.

India Women's Side Secure Dominant 5-2 Finish Against Pakistan At 2024 SAFF Women's Tournament

The Indian Women's Football team took an exemplary lead five minutes into the game as Grace Dangmei opened Team India's score count. She flicked a shot from the edge of the box, which firmly landed inside the nets. Soon after the first score, Manisha Kalyan netted another one for the side in the play's 17th minute after receiving an assist from Ngangom Bala Devi in front of a packed Dasharath Stadium in Kathmandu, Nepal. Dangmei went on to score a brace in the 42nd minute, while Jyoti Chauhan extended India's lead in the play's second half.

Team India was four goals up before the half-time whistle, and Pakistan tried to retaliate swiftly. They scored a goal before half-time and then scored in the 47th minute of the game. But India's class was too difficult to surpass, as they scored another goal in the second half to extend their lead to five.

The 2024 SAFF Women's Championship opener was significant for Team India as captain Loitongbam Ashalata Devi received her 100th cap, a clinical milestone for the footballer. Additionally, veteran Bala Devi scored her 50th goal for her country, making history as the first Indian female football player to do so. She assisted Manisha's goal and scored her 50th International goal after smacking a shot as a free-kick, which the PAK custodian could not stop from entering the goal line.

The Indian Women's National Football team will lock horns against Bangladesh next in a group-stage fixture, and they will aim to clinch the title.
