England coach Gareth Southgate defends Liverpool defender Joe Gomez who was on the receiving end of derogatory comments by home fans during last night's win.

England scored seven goals against Montenegro on Thursday night to secure their spot in the UEFA Euro 2020 qualifiers. Harry Kane scored a hat-trick while Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Marcus Rashford and Tammy Abraham also got on the scoresheet. However, there were some disappointing scenes at Wembley as Joe Gomez was booed by the home fans following his very public spat with England teammate, Premier League rival - Raheem Sterling.

Post the Liverpool - Manchester City clash on Premier League Matchday 12, Joe Gomez and Raheem Sterling were involved in a tussle as the England squad met on Monday. The duo had to be separated by their Three Lions teammates and Sterling was dropped from the squad by coach Gareth Southgate post the incident which left a mark under Joe Gomez's eye. During the match against Montenegro, Liverpool's Joe Gomez was at the receiving end of derogatory remarks from home team fans. England coach Gareth Southgate leaped to the defence of the youngster as he said that Gomez had done nothing wrong. The former under-23 coach added that he was deeply disappointed by the fans' behaviour and insists the entire dressing room is in support of Joe Gomez.
