VAR—unlucky for Chelsea

Liverpool netted the first goal of the match in the 14th minute as Trent Alexander-Arnold scored a thunderbolt past Kepa Arrizabalaga. In the 28th minute, Willian squared a cross to the middle and Tammy Abraham’s shot deflected off Fabinho and was saved by the Reds goalkeeper Adrian. He palmed it back to the play and Cesar Azpilicueta netted it to make the score 1-1. Later on, the goal was disallowed as Mason Mount was in an offside position in the build-up.

Kepa’s save

It seemed like Liverpool would score more goals as they kept on attacking and creating chances. Chelsea's custodian Arrizabalaga played a vital role in saving the hosts. Roberto Firmino, who netted the second goal for the Reds in the 30th minute was left unmarked near the post. In the 48th minute, he tried to shoot a volley. Kepa reacted quickly and dived to get a hand to the shot, denying the third goal of the match.

Kante's efforts

Chelsea midfielder Kante scored a screamer -- a lone goal for the Blues. He turned past Fabinho easily and was left unmarked as he made the run to the edge of the box. He fired the shot in the 71st minute past Adrian. He kept on trying till the last minute of the match to get a hold of it after his first goal.
