Eredivisie's Heerenveen fill stadium with teddy bears in support of children with cancer

Eredivisie outfit SC Heerenveen filled their stadium with 15,000 teddy bears, all of which were sold to support children affected with cancer.

Eredivisie outfit SC Heerenveen took world by surprise in game against FC Emmen t only by ir spectacular performance but for ar splendid reason that has left club fans awestruck. With fans in stadium, club decided to place Heerenveen teddy bears in solidarity with children diagsed with cancer in Nerlands.

Heerenveen stadium filled with teddy bears 

Fans are t allowed in stadiums in Eredivisie citing coronavirus spread. But SC Heerenveen came up with a perplexing idea, to extend ir support to children undergoing treatment for cancer. club placed 15,000 teddy bears, all wrapped up in team's shirt in stands at  Abe Lenstra Stadium. 

According to club's website, main aim of effort was to attract attention towards children affected with cancer. tribute was a result of collaboration between SC Heerenveen, drug company MSD and  Children Cancer Free Foundation. Amid strict regulations due to coronavirus pandemic, traditional charity football events cant take place. Hence, move was symbolic.

€230,000 raised from sale of teddy bears 

pandemic has affected charitable foundation's efforts in fight against cancer. It lost out on hefty financial donations and hence SC Heerenveen came to rescue. tably, all of 15,000 Heerenveen teddy bears were sold and revenue estimated at €230,000 was collected, providing a major boost in fight against cancer.

Frits Hirschstein, founder and director of Children Cancer Free Foundation, as quoted by club, said, "During first months of corona pandemic, many children with cancer were invisible. Because care was postponed. Unfortunately, we are w in that situation again. At same time, we were introduced to empty football stadiums. That's why we encour footballers with thousands of KiKa bears in Heerenveen shirts. And we express our support to all children with cancer and let m kw that we will t forget m."

Heerenveen sit fourth in Eredivisie standings after victory vs FC Emmen

magnificent effort was furr rounded up in favour of club when y defeated FC Emmen 4-0. Henk Veerman bagged a brace, besides goals from Benjamin Nygren and Rodney Kongolo. With victory, SC Heerenveen w sit fourth in Eredivisie standings with 13 points to ir credit.
