Red Bull Salzburg striker Erling Haaland’s father Alf-Inge Haaland has admitted that his son is interested in a move to the Premier League in the future, according to British media reports. Haaland, a Norway international, has seen his father play at Manchester City as well as for Leeds United in the past.
Alf-Inge Haaland played for Manchester City
Erling Haaland has made no secret of his support for both the clubs as well as Nottingham Forest in the past since childhood. Haaland has gained attention from various clubs in Europe for scoring an incredible 21 goals in 14 games this season, including one against defending champions Liverpool at Anfield in the Champions League.
The Norwegian footballer had sparked rumours of joining City recently after he shared an image of his father and George Weah playing for City with the caption 'Heroes'. It is understood that Haaland has also been a member of Manchester City's Facebook group, but left it recently to avoid any transfer rumours surrounding him for the same.
Top European clubs such as Manchester United and Juventus are eyeing a move for the youngster in the January 2020 transfer window. Salzburg are well aware of the fact that they have one of the world's most exciting prospects in their side and thus expect large offers in the future, although nothing has been tabled officially as of now. In view of the player’s capabilities and increasing demand, FC Salzburg have reportedly put a price tag of a whopping €100m on him, according to British media reports.
The 18-year-old has now racked up seven goals in only four Champions League matches this season. This ranks him above Raul and Kylian Mbappe, both of whom had scored six goals in a season as teenagers. Manchester United are reportedly interested in the player, with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer looking to re-inforce his attack. A confirmation from the player’s father might come as a transfer boost for the Old Trafford management.
