Euro 2020 Qualifier on Monday, October 14 between Bulgaria and England was won by latter 6-0. However, match has w become famous for n-footballing reasons. ongoing battle between global football community and racism escalated as racist chants were yet again targetted towards some of English players. situation has heated up furr after it has been widely reported in British media that Bulgarian Prime Minister Boyko Borissov has called for Bulgaria Football Union (BFU) President Borislav Mihaylov to resign.

game, which was held at Bulgarian capital city's Stadion Vasil Levski, had to be halted twice by referee in first half itself after a host of vile chants were directed at English players. Under a three-step protocol by UEFA, game was halted where referee had discussions with both team's captains - England's Harry Kane and Bulgaria's Ivelin Popov along with or match officials. Popov, who tried appealing to fans to stop chants, failed to have much impact. A group of fans were n escorted out of stadium to rectify situation. Several English players reportedly complained to ir manr, Gareth Southgate during game. However, Bulgarian manr Balakov denied such accusations, insisting chants were t meant as abuse for visiting team.

footballing community poured in numbers in support of English players, with many suggesting that UEFA should ban Bulgaria from participating in Euro 2020 qualifiers. BFU and a number of Bulgarian clubs have been fined several times over past few years as y were found guilty of racial abuse. Bulgarian Sports Minister Krasen Kralev has stated that Prime Minister had called him up and expressed his dismay about incident. Government authorities are keen to strip off all financial incentives and relations with BFU unless its President Borislav Mihaylov resigns. It is said that UEFA too has made a te of situation and a strong reaction is expected from organisation to address situation soon.
