Real Madrid, Juventus among Europe's top clubs vouching for Champions League revamp
Real Madrid and Juventus are pushing for reforms to the Champions League within three months, with the European Club Association set to decide the issue soon.

According to reports in Europe, top European clubs like Real Madrid and Juventus want to bring about changes in Champions League in next three months. A new working group was set up by European Club Association to analyse and present new proposals in terms of Champions League formats. re have been demands from various quarters to introduce certain changes in format of European Competition. Clubs like Real Madrid and Juventus have been very keen on new reforms in competition.

Two proposals have been put forward to European Club Association
One of proposals that has emerged includes idea of having 32 teams vying for Champions League title. Of se, each team will play against 10 or teams. Teams that qualify for Round of 16 will automatically qualify for Champions League next season.

second proposal involves having six groups of six teams, which may vary up to eight teams per group as well. However, European Club Association are most likely to opt for first option of having 32 teams in competition. European Club Association are also discussing idea of categorising clubs in four pots. First pot might include elite teams, second pot would include clubs such as Ajax, third pot will have likes of Celtic and Rangers, while smaller Eastern European countries would be in pot four. elite teams would have a fixed spot in competition every year, irrespective of ir position in domestic league. However, teams like Leicester City have opposed reforms as new format would abandon Champions League qualification process.

However, re has been some opposition to reforms as well. Chelsea manr Frank Lampard opposed Champions League reforms and he claimed that it will lead to player burut. Lampard had earlier told a meeting of European club leaders that an increase in group games would be a serious mistake and that current status quo should be maintained. Lampard is managing Chelsea in Champions League for first time this season and does t believe it is feasible to squeeze more fixtures into an already congested calendar.
