Everton's Richarlison misses open goal vs Spurs as Ancelotti's men claim narrow victory

Everton forward Rcharlison failed to find the back of the net after beating Tottenham goalkeeper Lloris. Ancelotti's men bagged a 1-0 victory against Spurs.

Legendary manr Carlo Ancelotti began his first complete season in Premier League with a narrow victory over Tottenham Hotspur. Despite Everton starting off ir campaign with renewed vigour induced with arrival of James Rodriguez and Allan, Brazilian star Richarlison was on receiving end of criticism after he missed a sensational opportunity to score for Ancelotti.

Everton vs Spurs highlights: Richarlison misses open net 

Everton produced some amazing display in first half against Jose Mourinho's men, as Portuguese oversaw a strenuous start to his first complete Premier League campaign with Spurs. Tottenham left-back Ben Devis miscalculated a pass towards teammate Toby Alderweild. Richarlison took due advant of situation and raced to bag ball. 

Everton forward also went on to beat goalkeeper Hugo Lloris and could have scored one of best goals of Matchday 1 of Premier League. However, Richarlison could t strike ball past an open net, inviting shrewd reactions from club fans.

Everton vs Spurs highlights: Dominic Calvert-Lewin scores, James Rodriguez debut 

Despite Riocharlison miss in first half, Everton went on to bag lead within 10 minutes into second half. Dominic Calvert-Lewin headed past Lloris after a sublime set-piece from Lucas Digne. Despite miss from Richarlison in first half, forward continued posing threat for Mourinho's men at back. Brazil international came close to netting twice in latter half but failed to find back of net.

game also saw James Rodriguez debut for Everton. former Real Madrid midfielder was signed recently by Everton courtesy of his close relationship with Ancelotti. Colombian international created at least five chances in game, more than any or player throughout course of game. He also became first Premier League debutant since Alexis Sanchez's debut in 2014 to create five chances in a game.

Premier League standings: Everton placed sixth in league 

With victory, Everton occupy sixth place on Premier League standings. On or hand, Arsenal defeated Fulham 3-0 to secure top spot in league. Toffees will next come up against Salford City in second round of EFL Cup at Goodison Park on Wednesday (Thursday according to IST).
