Expert Blasts Arsenal Star's Performance, Saying 'I’ve No Sympathy for Him' After Man City Draw

Manchester City and Arsenal staged a stunning 2-2 draw in an exciting match at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday, September 22, 2024. In the ninth minute Erling Haaland started the home team's score; nevertheless, Riccardo Calafiori quickly equalised Arsenal in the 22nd minute. Football pundit slams Arsenal star after poor showing vs Manchester City in the Premier League 

Football expert Richard Keys has attacked Arsenal striker Leandro Trossard for his red card during the 2-2 draw against Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium on September 22. Arsenal's hopes in this pivotal Premier League game were seriously hampered by Trossard's departure, which left just 10 players soon before halftime.

Early on, Manchester City led with Erling Haaland scoring in the ninth minute. Arsenal battled back and scored twice; Riccardo Calafiori equalised in the 22nd minute and Gabriel Magalhaes drove them ahead in stoppage time. But Trossard's second yellow card—for kicking the ball away after a foul in the eighth minute of first-half stoppage—turned out expensive.

Arsenal's second half defensive effort was admirable, but they couldn't hang on. John Stones equalised for City in the last minutes of the game (90+8'). Keys stressed the effect of the red card on the team's performance and voiced his dismay with Trossard's decisions on his blog on The Boot Room. Richard Keys said: 

“I’ve no sympathy for Trossard. What he did was just plain daft, so soon after Declan Rice was punished for kicking the ball away. He deserved to go. But if he hadn’t been booked for doing that, he could easily have been booked for the foul that led to the incident. There was no need make that clumsy challenge – right on half-time, handing City a chance to have a crack at goal from the free-kick."

“I do agree with Arteta that Doku should’ve been booked. He too kicked the ball away, but let’s not forget it would’ve been a simple yellow. Trossard was on a yellow when he committed his crime. The guy must have the brains of a rocking horse.”

Arsenal will now be seen in action against Bolton in the EFL Cup 3rd round. The match will take place at the Emirates Stadium on Thursday, September 26, 2024.
