New FA rules include red cards for deliberate coughing amid pandemic: Report

New FA rules state that any player who coughs deliberately on an opponent or a match official will be sent off with a straight red card in coronavirus times.

Football news: Straight red card for deliberate coughing, suggest FA rules 

According to a report by Times, FA has come out with a set of new rules keeping in view raging coronavirus cases across world. According to new FA rules, a player will receive a straight red card if he deliberately coughs on players or match officials. This, report suggests, has been done to avoid spread of coronavirus via droplets.

Football news: Police action for FA rule violation 

new FA rules will come into force immediately and will be implemented across all levels of sport in UK. player might also face possible police action for violating FA guidelines. FA rules' document reads, "Where referee is certain that someone deliberately, and from close range, coughed into face of an opponent or match official … referee should take action under law 12 i.e. using offensive, insulting or abusive langu and/or gestures."

referees have also been asked to urge players t to spit during course of game. Similar actions such as se-clearing are strongly discourd. FA rules suggest that if player has already been issued a warning and he deliberately igres it, n referee should mention specific details in match report once it concludes.

Coronavirus: VAR to check FA rules' violation 

Premier League season 2019-20 has already concluded. This implies that new FA rules will come into effect in competition from next season. Meanwhile, report also suggests that a Video Assistant Referee (VAR) check will also be done on allegations of coughing or spitting to ascertain any violation of rules.
