FA revokes Son Heung Min's red card; to play next match on Nov 9

The Football Association (FA) have announced that Tottenham Hotspur forward Son Heung-min's red card against Everton has been overturned. The midfielder was sent off after a foul on Andre Gomes, which fractured his foot and lead to him undergoing a surgery. He was to serve a three-game ban, but will now be available to play against Sheffield United in the Premier League on Saturday, November 9.

Red card revoked

In a statement, the FA said, "Heung-min Son will be available for Tottenham Hotspur FC's next three domestic fixtures after an independent Regulatory Commission upheld a claim of wrongful dismissal. The forward was sent off for serious foul play during the Premier League fixture against Everton FC on Sunday 3 November 2019."

Gomes was taken to a hospital and underwent surgery on Monday. The club said that Gomes underwent surgery to repair a fracture-dislocation to his right ankle earlier today and the procedure went extremely well. On Tuesday, he was discharged from the hospital and the club released another statement, where they said that "Following a successful operation yesterday, Andre Gomes has now been discharged from hospital and will continue his rehabilitation under the care of the Everton medical team."

Son was extremely distraught after the incident and could be seen crying. In the pre-match press conference of Spurs' European endeavours against Red Star Belgrade. Spurs manager Mauricio Pochettino said that the players were recovering from the incident. In the context of Son, he said, "Sonny is okay. He was devastated after the auction, it was a mix of everything – it was a mix of the injury, it was a mix of the red card. The situation of the game was an emotional moment for everyone and now after a few days, everyone again is available to play. He is in a very good way, of course, he feels sorry like everyone but he’s in good form.”
