Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has refused to comment on whether or not Red Bull Salzburg striker Erling Haaland is on his radar following rumours linking the Norwegian to Manchester United. The 19-year-old has emerged as one of the most sought-after players in world football. The prodigy has scored an incredible 20 goals in only 13 games for the Austrian champions this season after joining from Molde in January 2019.
Haaland looks capable of stepping up to one of Europe’s biggest clubs, but at the moment, it seems unlikely that he will reunite with Solskjaer at the Old Trafford in 2020. Ahead of a crucial trip to Norwich on the Premier League's Matchday 10, Solskjaer was quoted by British media reports in saying that he might continue to play with two strikers now that Anthony Martial is back in the fold after an injury lay-off.
Haaland wanted by top clubs
Reports in recent weeks claimed that United could face competition from Real Madrid for the prolific teenager, while Italian sides Juventus and Napoli, whom he scored twice against in the UEFA Champions League group stage, are also said to have some interest. Solskjaer worked alongside Haaland at Molde last season, prior to taking the job at Manchester United, but he appeared reluctant to discuss the prospects of signing his compatriot despite his current striker shortage.
Mandzukic Rumours
Since letting Lukaku and Aleix Sanchez join Inter Milan on a transfer and loan deal respectively, United have failed to see players step up and score goals this season. United have only managed to score 10 goals in nine Premier League matches this season, despite winning their opening game 4-0 against Chelsea. United have also been linked to Mario Mandzukic, who has been out of favour for the Turin side, after Maurizio Sarri took charge at the club. And while it is understood that Mandzukic could be available for just £10million in January 2020, the striker’s prolific days appear to be behind him. Last season, Mandzukic only recorded 10 goals in 33 appearances in all competitions.
