Liverpool midfielder Adam Lallana could be on his way out of the Anfield in January 2020, if recent British media reports are to be believed. The 31 year old’s contract with the Reds expires at the end of the season but he would be free to start negotiations with other clubs in January itself.

Lallana offers versatility
The player has reportedly attracted interest from MLS as well as the Chinese Super League, considering the high paying nature of these leagues. However, it is believed that Lallana might be offered an extended contract in order to keep him with the European Champions. Klopp is said to be an admirer of Lallana’s leadership qualities and his versatility, which makes it easy for him to play in multiple positions.

But the 31-year-old is likely to be offered contracts lasting for a longer period of time and the promise of more regular football away from Anfield and may review his options early next year. Lallana joined Liverpool in July 2014, moving from Southampton for a fee of £25 million. His time at Anfield has been plagued with injuries. Injury woes hampered his chances of becoming a regular starter under Klopp, making him largely restricted in having a secondary role in the team. The Reds will be reluctant to sell him in January as Klopp wants to have a fresh and diverse squad to compete for both the Premier League title and a second consecutive UEFA Champions League trophy.

Lallana has been injury-prone
With Fabinho, Gini Wijnaldum, Jordan Henderson, James Milner, Naby Keita and possibly a fit Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain ahead of Lallana in the pecking order, the injury-troubled midfielder may have to leave Merseyside if he has to play regular football once again. The England international made just 16 appearances last season as he was hampered by various knocks and niggles, failing to score or assist. Remarkably, the season before that, he played exactly the same number of games and only managed to score one goal.
