Former Real Madrid star Robinho's prison term upheld, faces nine-year sentence for rape
Former Real Madrid star Robinho's nine-year sentence has been upheld by an Italian court of appeal for his alleged involvement in the gangrape of a woman.

Former Real Madrid and Manchester City star Robinho racked up controversy in 2017 when he was sentenced to nine years in prison after being proven guilty of his involvement in a gangrape. However, he wasn't extradited back n and continued with his footballing career. But crisis hasn't been averted with Brazilian footballer's nine-year sentence being upheld by Italian court of appeal, much to his dismay.

Robinho was allegedly involved in gangrape of a 22-year-old Albanian woman back in 2013 when he was plying his trade with AC Milan. player's defence back n had tried to discredit woman by displaying ims of her consuming alcohol to judge. But ir claims found takers in court.
Apart from Robinho, five or people were proven guilty of gangrape, including his friend Ricardo Falco. duo was also asked to pay dams estimated at €60000 to woman. But former Real Madrid star, w 36, has always claimed he has been incent all along.

Robinho prison term approved by Italian court of appeal
Adria Wilkson of UOL has confirmed that Italian court of appeal has upheld earlier Robinho rape case verdict. Following Robinho prison term being upheld, player is expected to lodge an appeal again. re's clarity as yet if Brazilian will be imprisoned immediately.

In October, Brazilian outfit Santos anunced Robinho's return. But his contract was terminated within next four days following massive public outcry over rape allegations. To mount furr pressure on his boyhood outfit, one of club's sponsors ended ir association in 'hour and respect for women.'

Robinho career: AC Milan stint overshadowed by Robinho rape case
Robinho enjoyed successful spells with some of top European clubs including Real Madrid and Manchester City. He joined Bernabeu outfit in 2005, managing 101 appearances in four seasons, while also netting 25 goals across all competitions. During this time, he clinched two LaLiga titles, besides a Spanish Super Cup win. Besides, his exploits with San Siro outfit was overshadowed by rape case, despiting winning Serie A and Supercoppa Italiana.
