Hermann Gerland appointed as Assistant Coach for Bayern Munich

Bayern Munich have announced that Hermann Gerland will be Hansi Flick's assistant. The announcement comes a day after the club parted company with Niko Kovac

Bayern Munich have anunced that Hermann Gerland will be assistant coach to Hansi Flick. Flick said that he wanted to work with Gerland because of experience he possessed. He was quoted saying, "Hermann is very experienced. He kws team, he kws processes, he kws FC Bayern as a whole. That's why I wanted to work with him."

Flick was named interim coach of Bundesliga club after Niko Kovac parted company with club on Sunday. In a statement, club said, "FC Bayern Munich and he coach Niko Kovac have parted company by mutual consent. That was result of a discussion with Niko Kovac on Sunday involving FC Bayern president Uli Hoeneß, FC Bayern CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge, and FC Bayern sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic, during which Niko Kovac offered his resignation." CEO went on to explain that performances in recent weeks have t been up to standard and it was time for some action.

He said, "Uli Hoeneß, Hasan Salihamidzic and I h an open and serious discussion with Niko this Sunday based on that and came to mutual decision that Niko is longer he coach of FC Bayern. We all regret this development. I would like to thank Niko Kovac on behalf of FC Bayern for his work, particularly for last season’s double win.”

My bror Robert and I would like to thank FC Bayern for se past 18 months. During that time our team won Bundesliga, DFB Cup and Supercup. It was a good time. I wish club and team all very best.”

Flick has h a healthy amount of experience and has coached German club Hoffenheim and also been current German National team Joachim Löw's assistant, leing team to famous 2014 FIFA World Cup win in Brazil.
