The Indian Super League (ISL) has grown in stature for Indian football ever since it was founded in 2013. Six years down the line, the ISL has seen a host of big names travel to be a part of Indian football. In addition to that, a host of Indian youngsters have also been a given a great platform to showcase their talents. Here is a list of three players to watch out over the course of ISL 2019-20.
ISL transfer news: Top players to watch out for this season
#3 Narender Gahlot
Narender Gahlot missed out on the FIFA U-17 World Cup due to an injury. However, the Indian teen made his debut for the senior team in the recently concluded Hero Intercontinental Cup against Tajikistan. Gahlot also scored his first goal for the national team in the next match against Syria. The young Indian defender will feature for Jamshedpur FC in ISL 2019-20 and will hopefully gain some invaluable experience playing alongside world-class players.
#2 Asamoah Gyan
33-year old Ghanian forward Asamoah Gyan was famously involved in a controversial penalty shoot-out incident involving Uruguay's Luis Suarez in the FIFA 2010 World Cup. The African international has played for clubs across England, UAE and China. NorthEast United FC moved quickly to add the free agent to their ranks ahead of ISL 2019-20. Gyan scored the equaliser as NEUFC played a pre-season practise match against the Indian football team. Expect big things from the experienced attacker over the course of the next few months.
#1 Roy Krishna
Fiji international and captain - Roy Krishna - is inarguably the most high-profile addition to the Indian Super League in the recent transfer window. Krishna, who most recently played his trade in the A-League with Wellington Phoenix, scored 51 goals in 122 appearances while playing in Australia. ATK shed good money to add the 32-year old to their squad and will expect him to repay their faith in him on the pitch this season. Will Roy Krishna end up as top-scorer in ISL 2019-20? We think, he just might.
