ISL 2019-20 begun on October 20, 2019 and the ensuing football fever has spread across the nation. Thursday's match featured a reformed Kerala Blasters side under new coach Welcome Schattorie play last season's semi-finalists Mumbai City FC in Kochi. Kerala started the season with a 2-1 victory against ATK but failed to make it two wins in two tonight. Both teams were level for extended periods during the match but all that changed when Mumbai forward Amine Chermiti put the visitors ahead with eight minutes left on the clock. Despite six extra minutes added in stoppage time, the Islanders managed to hold on and bag all three points in their season opener while Kerala succumbed to their first defeat of the season.
