ISL Matchday 3 Review: Newcomers Hyderabad FC, Odisha FC net first win

ISL Matchday 3 saw some surprising results this gameweek. ATK scored the 1000th goal in the ISL. Mumbai City FC succumbed to a 4-2 loss against Odisha FC

Indian Super League (ISL) is w three matchdays old, and as such, ISL table is starting to take shape. Matchday 3 threw up some surprises in results. Newcomers Hyderabad FC registered ir first win in ISL after successive defeats in ir opening fixtures. Fellow newcomers Odisha FC also tched up a win in ir third consecutive away game against Mumbai City FC. Here is a review of ISL Matchday 3:

Hyderabad FC register first win

G.M.C. Balayogi Athletic Stadium witnessed Hyderabad FC register ir first win in ISL in game against Kerala Blasters. A 5-0 loss to ATK in ir opening fixture and a 3-1 loss to Jamshedpur FC meant that Phil Brown was under immense pressure to produce some results for newcomers. As luck would have it, Hyderabad FC's first-ever win in ISL came in ir first-ever home game in league. Goals from Marko Stankovic and Marcelo Pereira ensured that Hyderabad FC climbed out of bottom of table after ISL Matchday 3.

Odisha FC off blocks

Narrow 2-1 defeats in ir opening ISL fixtures against Jamshedpur FC and rast United FC meant that luck was t on side of Josep Gombau's men. Facing a steely Mumbai City FC in ir third successive away game in ISL, Odisha FC went on to register an emphatic 4-2 win against Islanders. Aridane Santana brought some Spanish flavour into game, courtesy of a brace. t a bad way to register your first win in ISL, is it?

ISL Matchday 3 witnesses landmark

A 2-1 loss to Kerala Blasters in ir opening game was t a good start to ATK's season. However, that result was followed by an emphatic 5-0 win against Hyderabad FC. Even so, game with 5-0 scoreline wasn't going to be one grabbing headlines. ATK's narrow 1-0 win against Chennaiyin FC on ISL Matchday 3 meant that ATK's David Williams has w scored 1000th goal in ISL. With three goals in three games, it's safe to say that Williams is off to a flyer in ISL this season.

Goalkeepers' day out

final game of ISL Matchday 3 saw Jamshedpur FC take on current champions Bengaluru FC. While game may have ended goalless, that does t mean that re was little to action in game. A 0-0 scoreline was largely down to two goalkeepers on day. Jamshedpur FC's Subrata Paul and Bengaluru FC's Gurpreet Singh Sandhu were on top of ir game, effecting some world-class saves to keep attackers from both sides at bay. In a Matchweek that witnessed ATK's David Williams score 1000th goal in ISL, Bengaluru FC's Gurpreet Singh Sandhu and Jamshedpur FC's Subrata Paul ensured that even goalkeepers got spotlight on ISL Matchday 3.
