Real Madrid superstar Vinicius Jr was the heavy favourite to win the Ballon d'Or in 2024 given he led Real Madrid to their 15th Champions League and 36th La Liga crown. However, on Tuesday   Manchester City and Spain midfielder Rodri has instead won the Ballon d'Or ahead of Vinicius Jr. This news left many football fans fuming as they slammed France Football and UEFA claiming that Ballon d'Or has lost all its credibility.

Jude Bellingham is reportedly unhappy with Real Madrid after Ballon D’or 2024

According to a Diario AS report, Jude Bellingham is unhappy with Real Madrid's Ballon d'Or policy. Said to have actively backed Vinicius Jr. for the honour, the club disregarded Bellingham's last season contributions.

Bellingham was instrumental in Real Madrid's success; he logged 3,644 minutes in 42 games with 23 goals and 13 assists, therefore guiding the team to LaLiga and Champions League successes.

Madrid apparently rejected Bellingham's Ballon d'Or candidature, even though he stepped up particularly in Vinicius Jr.'s absence because of injury. According to Diario AS, Dani Carvajal would have been a qualified winner if Vinicius had not been selected. According to a Real Madrid spokesperson, he told the above-mentioned source:

“If the award criteria do not proclaim Vinicius the winner, those same criteria must proclaim Carvajal the winner. As this has not been the case, it is obvious that Ballon d'Or and UEFA do not respect Real Madrid. And Real Madrid is not where it is not respected.”

Bellingham, who placed third in the Ballon d'Or rankings, will be keen to prove his value to the squad throughout the current season.
