Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp admitted on Friday that a new defender would help strengthen his squad for the second half of the season but added that signing one was unlikely. Liverpool's backline has looked vunerable this season following a number of injuries, most notably Virgil van Dijk who suffered anterior cruciate ligament damage in October.

Klopp's side slumped to their first home league defeat in 68 matches to Burnley on Thursday - a result which leaves them six points behind leaders Manchester United.
