Koeman can't manage LaLiga opener with Barcelona yet to resolve Setien's severance package

Barcelona manager Ronald Koeman's official appointment has been delayed with the club yet to agree upon a severance package with Quique Setien.

Koeman cant man Barcelona against Villarreal

Barcelona sacked Quique Setien after ir humiliating exit from Champions League last season. However, complexities still persist, with Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) yet to process Koeman's appointment. Koeman has alrey overseen two pre-season friendly games, latest against Girona, in which Barcelona netted thrice while conceding once. 

According to a report by El Partidazo de COPE, Setien hasn't been officially sacked by Catalan giants yet. Barcelona and Setien are yet to agree upon a severance pack. This has resulted in delay of Koeman's appointment by Spanish Football Federation.

Barcelona yet to agree severance pack with Setien 

Setien was brought in to replace Ernesto Valverde in January this year, overseeing 25 games across all competitions. Under him, Barcelona won 16 games. However, fact that Barcelona went trophyless, losing LaLiga title to Real Mrid that season saw him sacked and led to subsequent appointment of Koeman, who was with Dutch national team. However, former Real Betis manr expects to collect year's salary as per his contract.

Koeman - Setien issue is just one of several conflicts that have plagued Barcelona. Club legend Lionel Messi was on cusp of leaving Camp u but decided to continue for a season more, citing Barcelona's firm stand against six-time Ballon d'Or winner. club is also reeling under financial pressure induced by coronavirus crisis.

Barcelona to play Villarreal on September 27 

current crisis has w forced president Josep Maria Bartomeu to roll up his sleeves in an attempt to finalise severance pack with Setien to pave way for Koeman's official appointment. Meanwhile, Barcelona begin title chase against Villarreal at Camp u on September 27, with kick-off time yet to be confirmed by LaLiga.
