In an attempt to give a modern touch to the team's iconic badge, La Liga giants FC Barcelona have proposed a plan which sees the club crest undergoing some minor changes. The proposed new badge is expected to roll out for the 2019-20 season.

The Spanish club announced their decision by posting a picture of the club's logos over the years. A statement on the club website read: "FC Barcelona is changing its crest in order to adapt to modern times.''

The biggest change in the crest, will see the initials 'FCB' been removed from the badge, which has featured prominently on the shield for over a decade. The last time the logo had undergone a change, was back in 2002.

Other minor yet subtle changes includes the removal of the the black lines inside the crest. The reduction of the Blaugrana stripes from seven to five, while it also sees the highlighting of some colors, in which the football placed in the middle can be prominently featured.

However, the stipulated change which has already been given the green light by the Board of Directors, will now require a final nod from the club membership at the Delegate Assembly on October 20 to make it official.

If approved this will be the first time that Barcelona have changed their crest since 2002. It will also be the first time since the club initials 'FCB' or 'CFB' will not feature on the iconic badge.
