LaLiga: El Clasico postponed due to political tensions in Barcelona

The most awaited LaLiga clash of the season 'El Clasico' between the Spanish giants Barcelona and Real Madrid, which was scheduled at October 26, 2019, has been pushed ahead due to political tension in Catalonia region of Spain. The news has come out to be an upset to many football fans all over the world. The main reason for the match getting postponed is the arrest of nine Catalan political and social leaders since they were found responsible for setting up an independence election in 2017.

LaLiga: El Clasico to get rescheduled 

According to reports in Spanish media, there is growing tension between the people of Barcelona, who are protesting against the decision, and the official forces of the city for four days now. To add to the news, a rally of the protestants will take place in Barcelona on October, 26 when the match was scheduled to happen. The Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) decided to postpone the game. Initially, they proposed to shift the date to December 16, 2019, but the LaLiga officials turned down the offer since they wanted to host the grand event on a weekend. December 7, 2019, is the date which is being considered for now but it is yet to be finalised. However, Barcelona coach Ernesto Valverde stated in an interview that 'El Clasico' will be played on the scheduled date itself.

Real Madrid are currently first in the LaLiga 2019-20 table with 18 points in eight games, while, Barcelona (16) are just two points behind the Los Blancos. Barcelona will be up against Eibar on Saturday and Real Madrid will travel to RCD Mallorca on Sunday for their Matchday 9 clash in LaLiga.
