Manchester City back to winning ways, hold determined Chelsea 2-1
Pep Guardiola's men continued to keep up with Liverpool after a 2-1 win against Chelsea. All 3 goals came in the second half as City look to defend the title

Manchester City defeated Chelsea 2-1 on Saturday evening to return to winning ways in Premier League. result puts City just a point behind Leicester City and nine points behind Liverpool on table.

Champion mentality
All three goals of match came in first half, with Kevin De Bruyne and Riyad Mahrez scoring for City, whereas N'Golo Kante scored goal for Blues. two-time defending Champions were assertive throughout match, but it was t easy to hold Frank Lampard's determined side.
After match, City manr Pep Guardiola said, "We scored a goal when y were better. rmally we believe to score you have to be better, but y were in that moment." Speaking on opposition, he said. "With problems we have with injuries, we beat an incredible, top side. I judge manrs on cour to play and Chelsea are [courous]. y have a fantastic team. Goalscorer, De Bryune said, "y work hard; y can keep ball. y're doing really well. It's difficult to win ball back from m. Maybe y had a little more of ball but we created better chances so we deserved to win, I guess. It shows or side we have – we can control game while defending."

Lampard, on or hand, also spoke about brave performance and said, "Coming into game, our recent form and how we’re developing quickly, I wanted to come here and be brave, to compete, to be brave on and off ball. In first half you saw all of that from us. At 1-0 we have relative control of game. We didn’t have that little bit of quality in final third. y had a couple of moments but we were playing well. Throughout game re were a lot of positives, but we lost and it shows you at this level finer details in both boxes are what decide se ones."
