The Premier League has often been called the most exciting league in the world, and with good reason. Last weekend’s results mean that Premier League champions Manchester City now trail Champions League holders Liverpool by 8 points after 8 games. Man City fans went into meltdown last weekend as Wolves beat Man City at the Etihad Stadium, courtesy of a rare double from the fleet-footed winger, Adama Traore. The defeat means that City have already conceded nine goals this season, one fewer than 12th placed Manchester United and three fewer than league leaders, Liverpool.

Having already dropped points against Tottenham and Norwich earlier this season, Pep Guardiola finds himself with the unenviable task of catching up to Liverpool, who now enjoy a run of 17 Premier League wins on the trot, just one short of United’s record of 18. Pep Guardiola will welcome the international break with open arms this weekend. He will, however, also be hoping to welcome back his players from the international break without picking up any injuries. Man City already have Aymeric Laporte, Benjamin Mendy, Kevin De Bruyne, Leroy Sane and John Stones out injured, with the loss of Laporte being keenly felt across City’s backline. Here’s a look at the Man City players on international duty this weekend.
