The Premier League is back this weekend and matchday 9 could spring up some surprises, as is the nature of the Premier League. Among the many Premier League bosses sweating over their jobs this weekend, all the focus is bound to be on Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. Under Solskjaer, United have made the worst start to a league campaign in 30 years. Come October 20, United play hosts to league leaders Liverpool, as they trail Jurgen Klopp's men by 15 points after eight games in the Premier League so far.
Injury woes for the Red Devils
Solskjaer was confirmed as the manager for the Red Devils in March, earlier this year, after being appointed as United's caretaker manager in December. As the Norwegian readies his side to host trailblazers Liverpool, the United boss has been dealt with a huge blow after the international break. United's first-choice goalkeeper David de Gea picked up an injury in Spain's 1-1 draw against Sweden in their Euro Qualifier clash. The Spaniard is said to have suffered a groin injury, which, Solskjaer confirmed, has ruled him out of the running to face Liverpool.

Paul Pogba is also set to face a spell on the sidelines, after failing to recover from an ankle injury during the international break. Pogba was expected to return for United's crunch fixture against Liverpool, but the United manager confirmed that the French midfielder was unlikely to make the matchday squad after claiming that the former Juventus midfielder played through the pain barrier in the last couple of games for the Red Devils. David de Gea's injury means that he joins teammates Pogba, Jesse Lingard, Eric Bailly, Phil Jones and Timothy Fosu-Mensah on the injury list. French international Anthony Martial is back in training for the Red Devils. Former Crystal Palace right-back Aaron Wan-Bissaka is also expected to return to Solskjaer's side on Sunday.

Jurgen Klopp, meanwhile, will have a relatively fit squad to pick from, with Mohamed Salah and Alisson Becker back in training this week. Alisson suffered a calf injury and was sidelined for the majority of Liverpool's fixtures this season. The Brazilian is expected to make a return to the matchday squad for Liverpool this weekend. Mohamed Salah is also expected to return to this side, having been the victim of a horrendous challenge from Leicester City's Hamza Choudhury in the last game. Cameroonian centre-back Joel Matip has also resumed training for the Reds. Former Stoke City winger Xherdan Shaqiri, however, is still out with injury.
