Marc Cucurella Fires Back at Gary Neville's Doubtful Remark Following Spain's Euro 2024 Victory

Defying England 2-1 in an exciting UEFA Euro 2024 final, Spain emerged triumphant to take the trophy. Nico Williams opened the score in the 47th minute for Spain, then Mikel Oyarzabal scored a late goal in the 86th minute to generate great activity in the game. England's will notwithstanding, Cole Palmer pulled one back in the 73rd minute. With their 16 shots, 6 on target, and 66% possession, Spain clearly dominated and sealed their triumph over England in a remarkable final hosted at the Olympiastadion Berlin.

Spanish hero Marc Cucurella humbles England legend Gary Neville after Euro 2024 final 

Following Spain's 2-1 triumph over England in the Euro 2024 final on July 14, Chelsea defender Marc Cucurella answered questions directed at Manchester United icon Gary Neville. Lead by goals from Nico Williams in the 47th minute and Mikel Oyarzabal in the 86th, Spain proved their supremacy all through the game.

Neville had voiced doubt on the team's possible success with Cucurella at the left-back post before Spain's outstanding Euro 2024 campaign. Notwithstanding these misgivings, Cucurella demonstrated his value by starting in six out of the seven tournament games and enabling Spain to retain the trophy.

Considering Spain's prospects using Cucurella as their main left-back, Gary Neville said (via Fabrizio Romano):

“I think he (Cucurella) is one of the reasons I think they can't probably go all the way.”

Reacting to the prior remarks, Marc Cucurella posted a picture of himself commemorating with the Euro 2024 trophy on his Instagram account. Beside the image, he penned:

“We went all the way Gary. Thank you for your support.”

The defender with a dominant left foot also played a pivotal part in the final match, delivering the pass that led to Spain's decisive goal in the closing moments. Cucurella executed a meticulously accurate and well-placed pass down the ground towards the front of the goal, enabling Oyarzabal to easily score by lightly touching the ball into the net.

The outstanding performance of Cucurella will greatly benefit Enzo Maresca, the new Chelsea manager, as the start of the Premier League season draws near. Spain's triumph signifies their fourth Euro Championship trophy, augmenting their previous victories in 1964, 2008, 2012, and the most recent one in 2024.
